Chris passed away suddenly in a work- related accident. After graduating from college, Chris worked for the FDIC as a bank auditor. More interested in starting his own business, Chris started K.A. David's Incorporated, a property maintainence company in 1992. Chris also co-founded with one of his best friends (Dave Gray), Champions Youth Fitness, teaching sports lessons to children and teenagers. After Chris' death, K.A David's was purchased by Chemlawn Inc. and Dave Gray still operates a youth sports company. Chris' memory lives on. The Christopher Groetsch Memorial Basketball Scholarship is awarded annually to a senior N.A. player. There is a memorial bench by the cannon in North Park and a tree at St. John & Paul Parish, both in his memory. Lastly, the basketball gymnasium at the new Baierl Family YMCA in Franklin Park is dedicated to Chris. The Groetsch Family would like to thank the Class of 1987 for the generous contribution made to the YMCA following the 10 year reunion. Most importantly, thank you for making the years Chris spent at North Allegheny so very precious. |
