Exciting News!
My husband, Jay and I started a flooring business in June 2006. Well, a few months ago, we were asked to help ABC's tv show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build a house (doing the flooring actually) for a family in Poolesville, MD. It was crazy!

Even though the tv show says they did it in 7 days, you only really have 106 hours!!!!!

Anyway, the family and the story is AMAZING! If you get a chance, check it out! The show will air as the season premiere in September on Sunday night (ABC).

If you're ever in the Northern Virginia area, come and visit us!

Well, what a true shock. Jim and I are cousins and hadn't seen each other muchless spoken since 1992. I live in St. Louis and he was in town visiting for a couple of weeks. He stayed with me and my mom and dad for a week and we had a blast. He loved playing his guitar and singing. He was so musical. We would sit out by our pool in the evenings and talk about "life" and where we wanted it to lead us. We were only 6 months apart in age--we had lots of plans for ourselves.
After his week at our house I drove us down to Lake of the Ozarks to spend time with his Aunt. We water skied and once again had so much fun just "hanging out." He taught me how to clean catfish. To this day I have yet to do it again!
I'm not sure why we never kept in touch, I can say I honestly have regrets. Big ones. He was a wonderful human being and it makes me happy to know that there are so many people that have such kind words to say about him.
Aunt Wanda, I love you and I am so sorry!
For everyone else out there....always stay in touch with those that you love--whether it's just a quick email or a card in the mail...never lose contact.

What sad news!  I too grew up with Jimmy and we had some great times together as Kids and teenagers.  He will be missed.  While I have not spoken to Jim in quite some time, it certainly hits home when one of us is prematurely lost.  All of us remember our childhood friends and it is something we will never forget.  Jim certainly falls within this category.   I want to send my sincere condolences to his family!

Just hung up the phone with Steve Dengler, as he was calling to let me know the terrible news regarding Jim Evanoff.  Although I didn't attend the reunion this year, this past summer my wife and I were fortunate enough to visit with Steve at his home in Cincinatti.  He also put me in contact with Jim, and he and I exchanged a few e-mails, catching up on life.  I hadn't been in contact with Steve or Jim in almost 17 years, so it was a reunion for us.  I just wanted to express my sincere condolences to his family and those of you who knew Jim as an adult.  We were good friends as "kids", and it's crazy to think that any one of us at our young age should have our lives cut this short.  Those of you (Curt Loy and others) who got to see him at Thanksgiving, and all of us who were freinds with him over the years were fortunate to have Jim in our lives.   Tony

I just wanted to express my sympathy at the loss of Jimmy Evanoff.  I remember him from way back in our Espe elementary days.  He  always had that particular smile on his face, and a kind disposition.  How tragic to lose him so suddenly and unexpectedly.  He will not soon be forgotten.

Anne -- I was one of the people who indeed contacted Jim through this website and got the chance to see Jim the day after Thanksgiving, along with some NA'88ers who knew him well.

It was the first time we had seen him in 15 years or so.  Jim was in tremendous spirits that night -- same ol' Jim smiling and enjoying life. He showed me a picture of Gabriela and he was so, so proud of her.

I am so glad to have had the chance to meet up with Jim again -- and, so glad to have had such a tremendous friend as Jim was in my life. He definitely will be missed.

Thanks to our classmates who put this reunion site together, as well as Steve Bloomquist with the job he did on the '88 site.

Jim Evanoff's nephew contacted us to let us know that Jim was in a car accident in Minneapolis Minnesota. He also mentioned that Jim was able to come home to Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving, and meet up with some friends that he was able to get in contact with, through this website.

Accourding to his nephew, Jim "was working as a case manager at a hospital at the time in Minneapolis Minnesota, doing what he loved most.  Helping others. He leaves behind a beautiful little girl, Gabriela.  He was a loving Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. "

Here is the information on Jim from the Post Gazette....

It has certainly gone by in a blink of an eye. It's so hard to believe how many of us still live in the area and it was great to see so many that traveled from so far away. Take care and best wishes to all.

Fans, minions, lemmings, Unfortunately, I will not be attending the reunion nor the independently organized happy hours. I was indicted on charges of prostitution while turning tricks at a senior citizens trailer park here in Phoenix. In the mean time, I’m trying to do as much community service as possible in the form of sponge baths and diaper changes in an effort to restore my standing within the community. In all seriousness, I have a business trip that conflicts with the reunion. I’m bummed because this would have been my first one and I was really excited. I was eager to show everyone how I didn’t grow up to be totally retarded. I can even eat with a fork. It’s been nice reconnecting with old friends and actually building some cool e-mail friendships with some individuals that I wasn’t that close with in high school. I think you are all spectacular little super stars. And props to all of you gangly girls that grew up to be “hot Moms”. I know what I’m doing when I get my time machine. Hugs and kissies. Rock out with your c*ck out! Cochran

It's great to see all the names of people on the site! I live in South Carolina still. I'm a mother of 3 boys(twin-11 and a 6 yr-old), artist, yoga instructor, part-time real estate agent and wife to Vincent - an attorney/State Senator (whom I met at Clemson). Why do so many come back to Pittsburgh? I did, and I like it! I just hate seeing so many familiar faces here and forgetting all of thier names. Then there are the ones that I do see, and remember who they are. Thoses are the ones who "hated" in school, but now act like we are long lost best friends. It's not so bad...

I remember the "sit down" strike, it was a fast one. Do you recall the "Walk-out" in our senoir year? After lunch everyone stayed on the front lawn until Schwoebel came and told us to get back to class. For the life of me I can't remember what that strike was for either. Guess 20 years fades the memory a bit.

I'm another class of '88 alum stopping in here. When I read the roster for '87 I think I had more interaction with your class than my own! Man, some of these names I haven't uttered in a long time! I'm married with two children, work downtown Pgh for the last 18 years, and live in McCandless.. my oldest will attend NA in the fall for kindergarten at Peebles Elementary! (Too bad they sold off my alma mater, Espe Elementary!) I still play guitar in a band for fun. Check us out at www.lostfrontier.net or email me if my names rings a bell with you. Wow.. Jim Cochran, I once jammed with you and Mark Goetz when you were putting a band together. (I lost out to Tom Moyles.. hope I spelled his name right.) You would have been in 10th grade at the time. Tom Franceschina, I remember watching you build the bon fire in '87. I was sitting in a 3rd-floor chem class at NA and I looked out the window and you were eye-level with us! I believe you were tacking the NH sign onto the fire? :) Ann-Marie Schrieber (as I remember you), you have done a great job with this site. For months I've been contemplating making something very similar for the '88 class and this site is inspiring.

Terrible news. So sad. My prayers go out to Bart's family for their loss.

Hey Everyone, I was reading the messages and thought I would let you all know about Bart Kelly. Bart was on his way to work one morning, in Iowa, when a tractor trailer crossed the yellow line and hit his van. He died almost immediately and didn't suffer at all. He was still one of mine and Denny's best friends. His wife and kids are doing as well as they can be, and hopefully moving here to Pittsburgh this summer!

Yo Vicki...sorry about the meeting in Phoenix...you know how it is when a coyote eats your daughters cat! I might be heading to Vegas with a friend for a Police concert. We'll hook up! If not...see you at reunion. Jim

Keep me in the loop about the after wedding after party. I miss running into you guys at Billy's on my trips to Pittsburgh. Haven't been there or seen anyone in years! Look me up the next time any of you are in Vegas. :-)

Randy, That's a good idea... quite a few people have inquired about possibly changing the date of the reunion due to Dan's wedding, but I don't think that's going to happen, so this would be a good alternative. I'll spread the word around and as we get closer...we can dial in the details. Anywhere with beer is good with me! Later guys! Cochran

I would agree. I am in! It is somewhat hard to believe Yoest is getting married. Maybe a place like HighTops by PNC Park. There also is another Irish pub right across the street.

For those of us that are attending Dan Yoest's wedding and will be unable to attend the 20th reunion, it would be great if we could all agree to an "after party" location to meet at 11:00 PM. May I suggest that a bar on the Northside would be appropriate?

Looks like I am in good company on this board. Just wanted to give a shout to everyone. I am also in favor of moving the date on the reunion due to Dan's wedding if possible.

Many of you have commented on how great this website is and that you wanted to thank whomever was responsible. I wanted you to know that although we have a committee of people working on the reunion, Anne Mlecko (Schreiber) is the one who deserves the credit for the website. She figured out how to get it up and running, got it up and running and she administers it on an ongoing basis. Anne has done a fantastic job.

If anyone is interested in taking a poll...I think the reunion date should be changed, if at all possible! Won't be the same without "The Crew" If enough want to change, could it be done? Just a thought!

What is the statute of limitations for stealing a school bus? It's so awesome to get back in touch with everyone, especially the insane group of people that I was close with. Splitting a bottle of Vodka on a school night with Grogan comes to mind. Parties in Jay Oswald's garage were the best. Frank Fox's basement in Bradford Woods was a good place to get stupid drunk as well. I miss Craig Huckestein telling me it's "all clear" to pull out in traffic only to have an 18 wheeler coming at me at 55mph...crazy F#ck!! Looking forward to the reunion!

I have to say that even though these pictures are REALLY small, everyone has aged beautifully and gracefully. I have contacted a few classmates from this website and have had wonderful communications! I would like to thank the committee for making this possible. Hopefully the word continues to spread and more people post information. Just wish those darn pictures were bigger, my eyes aren't what they used to be. To those that know about this website and aren't posting ~ chicken!
